About

Are you ready to be a hero? Dare to see the impact an hour or two a week can have on the life of a child. Volunteers are needed to mentor elementary students during a comprehensive After-School program that combines tutoring, homework assistance, character development, and life skills instruction.Volunteers play a very important role in these kids' lives, and can make a huge difference just by showing up!!

Volunteers will be assigned to a classroom or grade and will work with the same 2 or 3 students each week helping with academic work provided by the after-school teacher, homework assignments, and other activities. Volunteers must be good with people, patient with children, flexible, dependable, and team players

MUST CONTACT Kelsie Tibbetts at ktibbetts@tuscaloosaoneplace.org. or 205-462-1000 BEFORE GOING TO SCHOOL. This program runs from 3 - 5 PM Tuesday thru Wednesday. There is a 2 hour per week time commitment for this after school program. Volunteers are assigned to attend one day per week based on volunteer request. We do ask that interested individuals consider their availability before committing to this. The children can become very attached to their mentors, and we want to offer them stability, which often times may not be present elsewhere in their lives.
